About the Calabria Foundation

Several years ago, a group of concerned citizens came together for a special project to build a wheelchair ramp for a housebound patient in Southern Bexar County, Texas

Ohio Gov. John Kasich's book, "Courage Is Contagious", specifically the profile of Dr. Jack McConnell lit the fire

From there, the story grows

"As Dean (interim) of the School of Rural Public Health, Texas A&M University System Health Science Center, I am pleased to be able to write this letter in support of the goals of the Calabria Foundation. Increasing access to medical care through strategies such as the mobile medical units you propose represents the kind of innovation that is required for us to address our "critically ill health care system.

Please consider the faculty, students and staff at SRPH as willing partners in any discussions you might want to have about how best to plan, implement and evaluate initiatives undertaken by the Foundation.

I look forward with great enthusiasm to our developing collaboration."
